Nasa's Curiosity rover begins exploring new Mars destinations

WASHINGTON: Nasa's Curiosity Mars rover is driving towards new uphill destinations to further study ancient, water-rich environments and potential for life on the red planet.

The destinations include a ridge capped with material rich in the iron-oxide mineral hematite, about two-and-a-half kilometres from its current location, and an exposure of clay-rich bedrock beyond that.

Bad weather conditions delay launch of GSAT-18 to 6 October

The liftoff of Ariane 5 rocket with Indian satellite GSAT-18 has been postponed to October 6 due to unfavourable weather conditions, said Arianespace. According to the French company Arianespace, the rocket launch has been delayed by 24 hours. The rocket is expected to lift off between 2 a.m. and 3.15 a.m. from Kourou (French Guiana) on October 6.

The launch of the Ariane-5 rocket from Kourou (French Guiana) was scheduled to take place between 2 a.m. and 3.15 a.m. (India Time) on Wednesday. According to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), GSAT-18 is the country’s latest communication satellite with 48 transponders that receive and transmit communication signals. The 3,404 kg satellite will provide services in normal C-band, upper extended C-band and Ku-bands of the frequency spectrum.

Google Pixel event: Here is everything that was announced from 4K Chromecast to Google Home


Google Pixel and Pixel smartphones have officially been announced by the search giant at an event in San Francisco. These are first smartphones made entirely by Google, which means the company has worked on its hardware as well as software. Also, the smartphones ate company’s first devices to come with Google Assistant built-in, which can can be launched simply by tapping the home button. Google also announced Google Home, Google WiFi router, 4K Chromecast Ultra and Daydream VR headset at the event. Google Home, which is Google’s answer to Amazon Alexa, will come with Google Assistant as well.
