80 new vehicles to be unveiled at Auto Expo 2016

The 13th edition of the Indian Auto Expo, organized by ACMA, CII and SIAM together, will be bigger than ever with an estimated 100 exhibitors taking part at the Motor Show and over 1,500 at the Component Show. While the Component Show will be held between February 4 – February 7, 2016 at Pragati Maidan, Delhi, the Motor Show will be at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida between February 5 – February 9, 2016.

During a pre-launch conference held in Delhi today, the Auto Expo organisers announced that a total of 80 new vehicles will be showcased at the event as against the last year’s 70 vehicles. This year over 65 vehicle makers will take part at the Motor Show, while the Component Show will see participation from 1,500 companies including 900 companies from India and 600 international exhibitors.

With more exhibitors taking at the 13th edition of the Auto Expo, the gross indoor exhibition space has been increased to 73.000 sq mts. from the previous edition’s 69,000 sq mts. The organisers are also expecting a footfall of around 7 lakh people during the 5 days event.

Vinod Dasari, President, SIAM, said “We applaud the efforts that have gone into making this edition of the Auto Expo bigger, better and more exciting. The team has put in cohesive efforts to ensure that the run to the expo is smooth and every minute detail is taken care of.”

Arvind Balaji, President, ACMA, remarked, “In line with ACMA’s theme for this year – Make Quality & Technology in India, a unique Innovation Pavilion will be set up at the Auto Expo 2016 – Components which will have on display Auto Components designed, developed and validated in India.”

Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General CII, elaborated,  Auto Expo has seen a ten fold  growth from 152 exhibitors to 1580 exhibitors in 2016, which is phenomenal over a period of 30 years. The show has been growing from strength to strength. Mr Chandrajit Banerjee further observed that Auto Expo 2016 would further witness unveiling of 80 new vehicles.

Deep Kapuria, Chairman Trade Fair Council, CII stressed on R & D and Innovation as a growth driver for the automotive sector, Auto Expo would pave way for  more collaborative approach between the various elements of the value chain – the component manufacturers, OEMs, Machine Tool Suppliers, and the raw material industry. If we have to grow from being locally competitive to be globally competitive, our relationship must graduate from being transactional to a symbiotic one.”
